i dont think (im unsure) the 1997 model has an ECU. i have a 2001 2.8 2nd gen 4x4 and it has no ecu. sorry cant explain the lack of revs. markthelark. 653 2. Aug 24, 2013 #8. My R plate 2.8 has no ECU. Limiters normally work on max speed , not max rpm. Is the throttle fully opening , check the linkage/cable ..
