If you select manual mode, you must activate the HLA using the brake pedal. To set the HLA mode: Press the right arrow button on the steering wheel to enter the main menu. The car displays 'Engine Malfunction' along with 'Hill Start Assist is Not Available'. I ran it through an ODB device but it is not finding any active fault codes, so I'm not sure what the problem is.. A forum community dedicated to all Ford owners and enthusiasts. I have been having the Service AdvanceTrac, Hill Start Assist Not Available and Hill Descent Control Fault messages pop up in the instrument cluster lately. All 3 lights show up at the same time, and timing seems to be completely random. The lights do now seem to be showing up more frequently.
